The Pancyprian Federation Of Independent Trade Unions ( POAS ), had the opportunity to welcome to Cyprus Mr. Trausznitz, President and Mr. Van Heusden, Executive Secretary of the World Organization of Workers ( WOW ) on the 29th and 30th of September, 2008.

During the visit of the two Officers of WOW to Cyprus, POAS and WOW have discussed and exchanged ideas on labour matters and also exchanged information about labour status in Cyprus and Europe. They put on table thoughts, ideas and suggestions for close cooperation between POAS and WOW  and confirmed the participation  of  POAS to the 31st World Congress, which will be organized by WOW in Malta from 2 to 9 of November,2008

During the talks, the two sides preliminary went through several  matters that will be discussed  in depth during the World Congress meeting and confirmed their mutual understanding for the planning and vision of the two Organizations. Also the two Officers of WOW were informed about the situation in Cyprus, due to the Turkish invasion and the efforts which are in force for the settlement of the problem.

The application of POAS as a full member of WOW, was also discussed and we are optimistic that the application of POAS will be confirmed by the Congress.

The President and the Executive Secretary of WOW expressed their satisfaction for the talks and their appreciation for the hospitality during their visit in Cyprus and their faith that the cooperation between the two Organizations, which is based on common principles, will continue successfully.
