FCG/GPA-djp well-equipped for the five years to come
Vienna, 12 November 2015 - In the wake of the Congress of the Christian Fraction of Trade Unionists within the Trade Union of Private Employees, Printing, Journalism, Paper (Fraktion Christlicher GewerkschafterInnen in der Gewerkschaft der Privatangestellten, Druck, Journalismus, Papier – FCG/GPA-djp) around 250 delegates have set the course for the next five years. The highest body of the FCG in the GPA-djp met under the motto "Man & Work: A Lifelong Balance". The needs of working women and men in the different stages of life will be focus of the future work of the Christian advocacy of private employees.
It is our task as trade unionists and mission of our Christian foundation of values, to create respectively shape working conditions in order to keep people healthy longer in their working life. The human being as an individual has different needs and different life stages require solutions that allow people to stay in balance. The creation of framework conditions, the finding of solutions as well as the implementation will be our mission for the coming years.
Wolfgang Pischinger well-represented in the GPA-djp
Wolfgang Pischinger, Central Works Council of the Oberbank AG, Chairman of the WBG Finance (Economic Sector Collective) and first Vice-Chairman of the GPA-djp was, after five years, again re-elected as the president of the FCG/GPA-djp. Together with his team of the Steering Committee of shop stewards and members of Works Councils of the individual federal states and various industries, as well as with the federal secretary Günther Trausznitz, he will represent the interests of the Christian members and shop stewards within and without the GPA-djp.
To do so the FCG/GPA-djp alone gained around 800 members and 280 shop stewards in the period of one year. Hence the FCG is a growing faction and as the second strongest fraction within the Austrian Trade Union Confederation (Östereichischer Gewerkstaftsbund – ÖGB), an essential partner in the representation of the interests of workers.
Women’s life is a diverse life
The day before the female delegates of the FCG/GPA-djp, within the framework of the Women's Committee within the ÖGB, came together. Analogous to the theme of the main conference, around 80 female delegates discussed the special needs of women in the different phases of life. Challenges for career-women, for part-time workers, for young professional newcomers or for women who transgress in the pension, were highlighted.
Karin Zeisel, Deputy Chairman of the Erste Group Bank AG was re-elected as Federal Chairman of the FCG/GPA-djp. Together with three experienced and competent shop stewards from Carinthia, Styria and Vienna, Zeisel will focus particularly on female trade union issues in the coming five years. She places the freedom of choice for both men as well as women as focal point of their work.
Thus the Christian Fraction of Trade Unionists within the Trade Union of Private Employees, Printing, Journalism, Paper (Fraktion Christlicher GewerkschafterInnen in der Gewerkschaft der Privatangestellten, Druck, Journalismus, Papier – FCG/GPA-djp) is well-positioned for the coming mandate and we wish the elected representatives all the best for the coming challenges.
